Gypset Style

I am so enchanted by a book called GYPSET STYLE by Julia Chaplin.

The book is a gorgeous collection of glorious places, faces, and spaces, and all based on an approach to life that encourages experiencing the culture of life with both a high and low approach, a personal design if you will, with an eye to what is extraordinary. Experiencing life off the grid a little, and making it an adventure The nomadic, artistic, gypsy spirit, combined with the cultural and visual sophistication and glamour of the jet set. It’s not about the money, but rather about the art of living, experiencing the joy and pleasure of life with an eye to truly experiencing a life filled with beauty and adventure. I am so in.

On a personal note, while I have had the personal good fortune of many unique experiences, working on film locations, traveling around the world on concert tours, and being a nomadic gypsy at heart. I am inspired to roam once again. For me this book feels like home, and really inspires me to the road less traveled, to seek the obscure, and let my imagination wander as it did long ago.

Raising children and falling into a more structured lifestyle has it’s upside, for a time. However the nest is almost empty and when you stop to think of all the magical experiences just waiting for anyone of us, it’s lovely ! This journey has just begun again, for me Gypset sounds like perfect harmony! To have a companion game enough is also a big plus….

The opportunities are endless, your life is an open book just waiting for another journal entry. A village, a beach, a stretch of open road, a luxury hotel, or a secluded B&B in the middle of nowhere, maybe even a blanket and a night on a beach somewhere warm. The endless natural beauty, and artists living and working throughout the world, seem like very good company to me. I am giddy with the possibilities!

Author Julia Chaplin will be at the Phoenix Art Museum on January 18, 2012 to discuss her book. She will talk about how the current exhibition of the work by designer Giorgio di Sant’ Angelo influences the Gypset Lifestyle. It is an unconventional life, and while we can’t all pack it up and roam the planet, a few weeks wouldn’t hurt. Check it out www.gypset.com
